Henry Cavill could possibly be returning to wear the red cape of Superman in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) for Man of Steel 2.
According to a new report from RevengeoftheFans earlier today, sources close to the matter have confirmed that Warner Bros. will be making an official announcement for both the movie and cast very soon.
However, fans should not expect the Kryptonian to grace the silver screen anytime soon. The entertainment division of the parent company is already busy trying to sort out the upcoming standalone movie for Aquaman, expected sequel in the form of Wonder Woman 2, highly anticipated adaptation of Flashpoint, return of the anti-hero band with Suicide Squad 2, and second take on Green Lantern.
There are also a bunch of other mentionables that are yet to receive any details. This includes standalone movies for Cyborg, Nightwing, Lobo, Deathstroke, Shazam, Black Adam, and more.
Hence, it is unlikely that Man of Steel 2 would be hitting theaters worldwide in the next couple of years. The best guess would be somewhere in 2021 or later. Regardless, the word on the street is pretty sure that Superman is returning and details will start pouring out soon.
Cavill has featured as Kal-El, Clark Kent, in three movies in the DCEU so far. The first Man of Steel was released back in 2013, earning $668 million in the box office. He returned with Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016 and then Justice League last year. The actor is currently working on a sequel to Justice League and potentially, another mysterious project.
