Nvidia Ampere Graphics Cards Expected To Be Announced At GTC 2018 Since GDDR6 Is Now In Mass Production

Samsung has announced the mass production of GDDR6 memory and that it will be adopted for next-generation graphics cards and if you were wondering which company would be the first to adopt this new standard then it should be Nvidia. We have been waiting for Nvidia Ampere graphics cards for some time now and it is possible that we will get an announcement at GTC 2018.

No announcement for Nvidia Ampere graphics cards was made at CES 2018 and keeping that in mind, GTC 2018 should be the best platform to announce the next generation of gaming graphics cards. As of right now, there is very little that we know about Nvidia Ampere and we do not even know whether the upcoming gaming graphics cards will be based on Nvidia Ampere or Volta.

While Nvidia Volta is mentioned on the official Nvidia roadmap, Nvidia Ampere is something that we have been hearing about since the end of last year. I guess time will tell whether or not it will indeed be Nvidia Ampere or not but it is expected that we will get an official announcement at GTX 2018, so stay tuned for that.

You can read more about Nvidia Volta here. The new Titan V is based on the Volta architecture and you can check it out here. Nvidia Volta will be better than Pascal in many ways and that has been proved by the Titan V. The Titan V is better than the previous Titans that we have seen so far but other than performance Volta based GPUs will also consume less power.

Other than that Nvidia Volta will also offer features that Pascal does not bring to the table. You can read more about that here. According to CEO Jensen Huang:

Our Volta GPU has been embraced by every major internet and cloud service provider and computer maker. Our new TensorRT inference acceleration platform opens us to growth in hyperscale datacenters. GeForce and Nintendo Switch are tapped into the strongest growth dynamics of gaming. And our new DRIVE PX Pegasus for robotaxis has been adopted by companies around the world. We are well positioned for continued growth.

Nvidia Ampere is one of the things that we are looking forward to checking out in 2018. You can also check out the other hardware tech we are looking forward to in 2018 here.

Let us know what you think about Nvidia Ampere and whether or not this is something that you are looking forward to in 2018.
