Nintendo Switch’s popularity is continuously rising as the console is on its way to becoming the best selling console of the year. Latest reports indicate, that in December, Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console in North America, surpassing PS4 and Xbox One.
According to NPD reports, the Switch has managed to move 1.5 million units in December in the U.S, which makes sense due to the holidays’ high demand and the Black Friday and Cyber Monday discount days. This makes the first year of our favorite hybrid console, the best one for a console in the U.S.
A week ago, Aaron Greenberg, Head of Xbox Games Marketing at Microsoft, has revealed on Twitter that the Nintendo Switch was indeed the best-selling system in North America during the month of December. He states:
Was trying to just thank folks for supporting us and the incredible success following the launch of Xbox One X. But yes Xbox outsold PS4 in December for Gen 8 consoles according to NPD data, while Nintendo also had a great month as Switch had most overall units.
However, this isn’t the part where Nintendo stops evolving. According to Nintendo President, Tatsumi Kimishima that the ground is set for the console to be a hit and it falls to Nintendo Switch’s second year to determine if that huge success is going to last.
