Intel Coffee Lake-H Mobile CPUs

Intel Coffee Lake-H Mobile CPUs are going to feature loads of cores and threads as compared to previous generation CPUs. While we are used to dual-core CPUs, Intel Coffee Lake-H Mobile CPUs will feature more than that. up to 6 cores and 12 threads to be exact and you can check out the specifications here.

We have the top of the line SKU, the Core i9-8950HK that will feature 6 cores and 12 threads and the best part is that it will feature an unlocked multiplier which means that you can overclock this CPU. It will be interesting to see what kind of laptops this CPU will feature in and what kind of cooling solutions will be offered in order to sustain stable overclocking.

The CPU will have a base clock of 2.9 GHz and will be able to boost to 4.3 GHz on all cores and 4.8 GHz on a single core. Having that said, the way boost works is pretty confusing but you can read more about it here if you are not sure what all this means.

i7-8850H and i7-8750H are two other models that feature 6 cores and 12 threads but there is a difference in clock speeds and these CPUs are locked so you will not be able to overclock them. You can check out the exact specifications in the table below:

SKUCores / ThreadsBase / Turbo All C / Turbo 1 CL3 cacheGraphics

Core i7-8850H6/122.6 GHz / 4.0 GHz / 4.3 GHz9 MBHD 630
Core i7-8750H6/122.2 GHz / 3.9 GHz / 4.1 GHz9 MBHD 630
Core i5-8400H4/82.5 GHz / 4.1 GHz / 4.2 GHz8 MBHD 630
Core i5-8300H4/82.3 GHz / 3.9 GHz / 4.0 GHz8 MBHD 630

The lower-end versions of Intel Coffee Lake-H Mobile CPUs come with 4 cores and 8 threads and should be cheaper as compared to the top of the line models but as of right now we do not have information regarding the pricing or the release of these chips. But you can expect these chips to be out in the second quarter of 2018. For more information stay tuned to SegmentNext.

All things considered, this is a big jump for Intel and it should be interesting to see what kind of performance these chips have to offer as compared to previous CPUs. The multiple cores and threads should make multi-tasking much easier and quicker.

Let us know what you think about these upcoming Intel Coffee Lake-H Mobile CPUs and whether or not you are interested in getting a laptop powered by one of these chips.
