Red Faction Armageddon launched back in 2011 and since then the franchise has been dormant with rumors popping up here and there about the next entry in the Red Faction franchise. Now another leak suggests that a Red Faction Guerrilla remaster might be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The leak comes from several European Gamestop websites who listed Red Faction Guerrilla Remaster as an upcoming title, which hints that a remaster of the game might be coming. However, the listing has since been removed.
However, Gamergen was able to see the description of the listed Red Faction title. According to the now removed listing, the game will be open-world with strategic elements involved. The game will be set in a Sci-Fi universe along with a multiplayer functionality.
This is not the only time that a Red Faction game release has been hinted or leaked. Back in 2016, a remaster of Original Red Faction was listed for rating by PEGI. According to the listing, the game was to release for PlayStation 4 and the game was given a PEGI 16 rating.
However, given that it is just a leak, take it as a grain of salt as THQ Nordic is yet to announce any Red Faction title. Also, THQ Nordic itself has been very quiet about the Red Faction franchise.
But, with THQ Nordic bringing the Darksiders franchise back with Darksiders 3 there is a chance that the studio might revive the Red Faction franchise too in future.
Speaking of Darksiders 3, THQ Nordic’s Reinhard Pollice has assured that the open-world of the game will not be forced and backtracking to previous areas will have a “natural sense of coming back”.
“We built the world in a way that there is a natural sense of coming back to places but also the player always has choices where he wants to go and there is obviously a good amount of sides and secrets to discover”.
Do you think THQ Nordic is planning Red Faction Guerrilla Remaster? Do you think THQ Nordic should release a new entry in the franchise? What would you like to see in the next entry? Let us know in the comments.
