Intel Cannonlake is the upcoming architecture based on the 10nm process and it seems that the chips have been leaked online. We have included information regarding the upcoming chips below so check them out.
The leak concerning Intel Cannonlake includes a 3DMark benchmark which should give you an idea of what you can expect to see in terms of performance and it seems that the upcoming mobile chips will feature six cores which is something that we have not seen so far in a laptop. You can check out the benchmark below:
It seems that there are 6 variants based on Coffee Lake and one that is based on the upcoming Intel Cannonlake architecture. The different variants that have been leaked are namely:
- Intel Core i7-8670
- Intel Core i7-8850H
- Intel Core i5-8600T
- Intel Core i5-8500
- Intel Core i3-8130U
- Intel Core i3-8121U

While we do not know for sure when Intel Cannonlake CPUs will be hitting the market we do know that the CPUs will be available in limited quantities this year and that they will be shipped to partners so that they can try it out and what not. keeping that information in mind it is highly unlikely that the general consumer will be able to get one.
The Intel Cannonlake CPU that we see here is dual-core chip and has a base clock of 2.2 GHz and can boost to 2.6 GHz. The chip will have a low TDP design and keeping in mind the number of cores that the chip has this could be an entry-level or mainstream chip.
Reports claim that the upcoming Intel Cannonlake chips will feature more cores and more threads. You can expect to see 4 cores on a laptop and you can also expect the upcoming 9th generation of desktop CPUs to feature 8 cores and 16 threads as that is what AMD is offering right now.
The Core i7-8670 that has been leaked does indeed seem to have 6 cores and 12 threads but that is something that we already have on the market. This chip has a base clock of 3.1 GHz and we do not know about the boost frequency just yet.
The Core i5-8600T also features 6 cores and 12 threads much like the non-T version of the chip. This CPU has a base clock of 2.3 GHz and the boost clock is still unknown. The chip does come with 9 MB of L3 cache.
Let us know what you think about the leaked Intel Cannonlake and Coffee Lake chips and whether or not this is something that you are looking forward to.
