The AMD Ryzen 5 2500U is a relatively new chip and has been designed for mobile devices. Having that said there are a couple of laptops that use this chip including the HP Envy X360 which you can check out here. The laptop features AMD Vega 8 graphics which is better as compared to integrated Intel graphics.
The AMD Vega 8 GPU on the AMD Ryzen 5 2500U features 8 CUs and can clock up to 1100 MHz. The chip has a TDP of 12-25W. Keeping all that in mind it is impressive to see that the chip is able to compete pretty well with the Intel i7-8550U which features integrated graphics. You can see how well the two chips perform when running Battlefield 1.
Talking about the 2700U, we got a leak recently that showed that the chip managed to score 4072 in graphics, 6419 in physics, 4212 overall and 3353 combine score when it comes to 3DMark 11. You can check out the performance of the AMD Ryzen 5 2500U in Battlefield 1 below.
In theory, the 2700U should be able to perform similar to GT 1300 but you can check out how well the chip runs Battlefield 1 below.
Intel has dominated the thin and light laptop market for some time now but AMD is back in the business and it seems that AMD has a lot of power to offer. It will be interesting to see how well AMD can do against Intel in this market space and if all goes well AMD could get a major chunk of the market.
AMD has caused a lot of disruption in the desktop CPU market but it seems that in 2018 we will be seeing the same in the laptop market in 2018. All in all, 2018 should be very interesting indeed.
