A new developer update for Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode is up on Youtube and is one that you don’t want to miss. Epic Games’ representative Erik Williamson shared some information about the upcoming Fortnite Battle Royale Map Update which will bring new areas to the original map as well as different biomes.
According to Williamson, the Fortnite Battle Royale Map Update must happen since the island on which the 100 players are competing seems to have fewer points of interest in certain places than it should, especially around the western side of the map. To balance this, Epic Games will add new named places across the map such as the City which is also mildly showcased in the video.
Apart from that, players will have the opportunity to now experience the game in different biomes. Williamson has already revealed two of those, the swamps and the mountains. During the developer update he states:
“The swamp feels swampier, the mountains feel more mountain-y. Really, the different areas of the map feel more unique,”
Last but not least, the Fortnite Battle Royale Map Update will remove the existent Christmas trees along with the chests that were placed beside them. This happens due to the fact that they were only meant to be added as event loot and will probably be unnecessary either way since with the new update you’ll have various other chest spots.
