The original Deadpool was a major success story with a budget of $58 million that made $783 million globally. It took almost a decade with the first release. I think the studio is making up for lost time with an early release of Deadpool 2.
Deadpool 2 will be hitting the theaters a few days early than everyone expected. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Fox film will be making its way theaters on May 18th instead of original date of June 1st.
Putting the movie ahead of release date is great news for fans but it will not go uncontested. The movie is scheduled to go up against Sony’s SlenderMan. Not long ago the trailer was released and fans are certain, that Deadpool 2 will sweep it.
SlenderMan is not the only movie releasing. A week after the release of Deadpool 2, A Star Wars Story spin-off is set to hit the theaters. The Star Wars story haven’t released any trailer yet but fans are keeping an eye on how this shapes up.
Early release was no easy call for Fox. The studio adjusted the premieres for Gambit and New Mutants. Gambit recently lost its director, will hit theaters on June 7, 2019, initially premiering on Valentine’s Day. While New Mutants got pushed away almost a year to February 22, 2019.
The Walt Disney Company has said that is has made an arrangement worth $52.4 Billion by 21st Century Fox. Walt Disney will purchase all stocks while the news and old business will stay as it is and as a portion of the arrangement.
