Call of Duty: WW2 has been on point with the fixes and recent updates, with buffs and nerfs happening all around with Assaults, Semi-Machine Guns, and other weapons. Now the game has turned its attention towards the Call of Duty: WW2 Shotguns.
Sledgehammer Games boss Michael Condrey posted a topic on Reddit, talking about Call of Duty: WW2 Shotguns. Michael Condrey explained why Combat Shotgun is getting slightly nerfed, although the M21 and Sawed-Off Shotgun are getting buffed.
“We’re testing a couple things for the Expeditionary Force that I thought you might be interested in hearing about and discussing.
First, we’re looking at a unit range nerf to the Combat Shotgun. We’re close to the sweet spot but weapon balance is literally a matter of micro changes in some cases to get it right for where we, and the community, want it. As a reminder, we had buffed it post-launch by +50 units, and we think a nerf of 20 units (net +30 to ship) will place it correctly.
Second, we’ve heard from you, and have seen in the match data, a need to make the M21 Sawed-Off Shotgun a bit stronger. We’re testing out a buff to the range and/or reload to help this weapon be more competitive within the primaries.”
M21 and Sawed-Off, in my opinion, were close to being obsolete. The community has complained about this and Sledgehammer Games took full notice of this. Each kill with a Frag grants the player 100 points instead of 20 if you’re using a shotgun. These shotgun tweaks will most likely be part of an upcoming patch coming to all platforms.
