New Total War: Warhammer 2 Gameplay Footage Shows Off The Tomb Kings In Action

Take a look at the Tomb Kings, the new race to be added in Total War: Warhammer 2 on January 23rd. Available in the Rise of the Tomb Kings DLC.

As you might already know, Creative Assembly has previously shown us a trailer for the release of Rise of the Tomb Kings, which is a Campaign Pack DLC for Total War: Warhammer 2, introducing a brand-new race to the fold from the Warhammer Fantasy Battles world: The Tomb Kings. Now, new gameplay footage emerges, showing the new race in action.

The Rise of the Tomb Kings DLC will feature 2 additional Legendary Lords for a total of four, with their own skills, traits, quest-chains, legendary wargear and situational challenges but won’t include a new campaign chapter. The gameplay video, stated in a desert landscape, shows the army of fallen warriors marching to battle. Seeing the video provided by Gamespot, you’ll notice that the Tomb Kings have a totally different playstyle than the other races, which may seem overpowered at first.

What you’ll notice about the Tomb Kings is that they that their units cost nothing to recruit and require zero upkeep each turn. Don’t be upset though, it’s a pretty balanced race, or so it seems by the footage. Another gameplay video by Eurogamer shows all the campaign features of Rise of the Tomb Kings, showing some pretty cool units and explaining how the new race works.

As we explained before, in battle, the Tomb Kings will be in contact with the Realm of Souls. Taking enough casualties to your enemies will trigger healing waves and regeneration among your units, allowing them to regain strength and eventually allowing you to summon Ushabti, enchanted statues that serve the new Total War: Warhammer 2 race as monstrous units.

The Tomb Kings will become available in Total War Warhammer 2 on January 23, and you can pre-order them now on Steam. Alongside the DLC, there will be a free update available for all owners so you can look forward to that too. For more information, check the Total War: Warhammer 2 Rise of the Tomb Kings Q&A.
