Update: Halo 6 not coming this year as we predicted below. However, an announcement is still on the cards.
Original Article: Halo 6 release date is something all fans are excited to know about but there are also worries that 343i may not be able to pull off a decent game since they did a mediocre job with Halo 5.
Halo 5 had its issues; lack of an impactful storyline and repetitive multiplayer combined with a host of issues at launch cause backlash. 343i was also hit hard by the community over unacceptable problems with Halo MCC. The trust is lacking right now but 343i does have a talented team of developers that can recover their reputation with the backing of Microsoft’s finest.
As far as Halo 6 goes, Halo 6 is expected to continue the story of Master Chief and Agent Locke. Master Chief will try to recover his reputation in the universe while Agent Locke will have a better understanding of Chief’s motives.
The following article will gather everything we know about Halo 6 and feature we wish to see.
Halo 6 Release Date
Halo 6 release date was supposed to be announced last year and the game was going to hit this year. However, after releasing an array of mediocre games Microsoft is now making sure unfinished games don’t leave the studios. Halo 6 developers are taking their time in order to avoid all issues that plagued Halo 5.
There is no news available at this time regarding Halo 6 release date but if we are to speculate, it is safe to say that Halo 6 could be announced this year. But with that said we do not expect the title to release this year. Microsoft may reveal the title at E3 2018. We do know that Halo 6 is being worked on passionately by 343i.
Really, we’re all passionate about Halo … and we want to root for the franchise we love and have always associated with Xbox platforms and keynotes,” he said. “Don’t worry, Halo will have its grand moments again for sure, but it’s actually kind of nice to have a breather and let the team stay heads down working on what’s next that’ll be ready when it’s ready
Another factor that may push Halo 6 further into the future is franchise fatigue. Fans want to see something fresh, new IPs are in development at Microsoft. However, the third-party focus needs to change. Microsoft needs to work on first party teams and push them to work on creative and fresh projects rather than working on vintage IPs over and over.
Releasing Halo 6 this year won’t sit well with part of the community that wishes to see new content. The good news is that Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has learned the lesson and is changing company focus.
Halo Showtime Series
We often see that TV series based on games and films release close to their video game counterparts. Halo showtime series has been in development for a long time but we haven’t heard anything related to the project for a while and it could be due to Halo 6. However, just now we heard that Halo Showtime Series is still in active development.
Showtime boss David Nevins recently noted that fans should have nothing to worry about as the series is still in development.
We can safely assume that Halo Showtime series will release close to Halo 6. However, until we have official confirmation we can not say anything for sure. But it would be very interesting to know if they pushed this series further into the future to accommodate a release date within Halo 6’s release window.
Halo 6 System Requirements
We are hearing rumors that Halo 6 may actually be the very first mainstream Halo game to release on PC. News about Halo 6 PC will surely break the internet and you would be very excited to know that Halo 5 is the last license to stay on Xbox. At least this part has been confirmed.
According to Aaron Greenberg: “I would say that our vision is to offer our new games to the largest number of players possible.”
This is a strong indication that Halo 6 PC will happen; it may or may not happen at the same time as the Xbox version but there is a lot of commotion over the matter.
Possible Halo 6 System Requirements
- DirectX 12
- intel Core i5 at 2.3Ghz or AMD equivalent
- GeForce 750Ti
- 4GB VRAM
- 8GB RAM
These specs are predicted based on the specs we had for Halo 5 and Halo 5 Forge. Official details should arrive in the coming months.
Halo 6 Features We Want to See
Halo 5 and MCC had plenty of issues and that is something we do not want to see in Halo 6. Better optimization for Xbox One as well as Windows PC is something everyone hopes to see. The bad news here is that if they screw it up, PC community is not as forgiving as console payers so it may damage this franchise’s reputation.
343i devs have experience working with PC but Halo 6 will be the first major 343i game on PC. They worked on Forge so they have the technical know how. But PC players expect great graphics as well as great optimization. Gears of War was close to 100 GB at release that is not something that’s acceptable for Halo 6.
Battle Royale Mode
Halo 6 needs a Battle Royale mode and it looks like it may actually happen. Just today, a rumor came out saying that the game may feature a Battle Royale Mode. Of course, it isn’t official but it’s highly likely to happen. Adding a Battle Royale mode to Halo 6 will be a breath of fresh air for the stagnant multiplayer experience offered by this IP for close to a decade.
One of the most annoying issues with Halo 5 was its mediocre story. And that is something Halo 6 needs to change. Master Chief should be at the center stage, while Agent Locke was a decent character and we want to see him again, Master Chief should be the sole playable character in a semi-linear world.
