Red Dead Redemption became an instant classic upon its release. The amazing storyline combined with the fluid gameplay, voice acting and mechanics made the game extremely satisfying to play. This caused the game to not only be well received by the community but also by the critics.
In this post, we will tell you every piece of information that has come to light about the Red Dead Redemption 2 so far and how we think it will impact the gameplay. Read on to find out about everything from snippets about the story to new gameplay features that are being added.
Red Dead Redemption 2: What We Know So Far!
Most of the people were expecting the game to release sometime in 2017 but Rockstar has now confirmed that the game will actually be released in the Spring of 2018.
Of course, Rockstar did not reveal a lot of information about the game but the leaks and the various different tidbits that were released allowed us to gather a fair amount of information about the game.
Before 2017, we already had the cover art of the game and we were informed of the fact that there will be multiplayer support for the game. The first trailer of the game revealed little to no information and was used as an announcement to generate hype around the release.
We had also already seen the map of the game which was leaked and later confirmed by Rockstar when talking to tech radar. Of course, you can count on the Reddit detectives to gather a lot of information as well.
A prime example of this was seen when people were able to pinpoint the exact locations on the world map where some of the screenshots released by Rockstar were taken, further emphasizing that this map was the actual map to be used for Red Dead Redemption 2.
The map also revealed that a small part of the original game’s map known as West Elizabeth will be returning, along with the Tallulah Jetty. It will be interesting to see these areas with better graphics and more detail than before. The map is also bigger than before, which should allow for more fun, right?
Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Version?
The industry was able to scour the portfolios of a number of Rockstar employees to find that some of the stuff on their portfolio closely matched the terrain and the models of Red Dead Redemption 2. These speculative claims were fueled once those portfolio images were deleted after the attention they received.
We also learned that the Playstation 4 had teamed up with Rockstar Games to provide online content to PS4 users before anyone else. Apart from this, speculations are rampant that the PC version will be similar to the first edition of the game and will come at a later date than the console edition – kind of like GTA 5.
When the cover of the game was revealed, people were already speculating that the story will be a prequel to the original iteration of the game. That has now been largely confirmed by multiple sources and the footage of the game that we have gotten to see.
The game is set at a time when the West was booming, and since the original was set when the West was dying, it is easy to assume how this could be a prequel.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Release Date and Delays
During May 2017, Rockstar Games revealed that the game was being pushed to spring of 2018 and the parent company Take-Two soon made a statement that the game will be released at any time after April 2018. However, not all is bad, some gorgeous screenshots of the game were released by the developers which showed amazingly well-detailed weapons, characters, and the world.

Fears for the future Red Read 2 soon multiplied though when Take-Two Interactive announced how they believed they had been under monetizing their users and they could do more in the microtransaction department. However, they were soon forgotten when the first actual trailer for the game was released.
This introduced the fans of the series to the main protagonist of the story Arthur Morgan and told them that the story would revolve around his exploits in the West along with the van der Linde gang.
New Red Dead 2 Mechanics
During the course of the trailer, we got to see some of the amazing new mechanics being introduced with the game such as the ability to swim, the bow and arrow along with a chance for dynamic weather.
We also got to know that the native Americans will be much more prominent and we will have much more customization options than we did in the original game.
GTA Online Challenge
Quite recently, a challenge was released for the GTA online game which players could complete to get their hands on the revolver from Red Dead Redemption 2.
There also seems to be a loot crate available in the game which carries the insignia of a coach company from RDR 2. The same insignia was found in one of the screenshots released to us by Rockstar.
That is everything we know about Red Dead Redemption 2 so far. If you have any other detail to add, then let us know in the comments section below!
