What is Zeroing Distance in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds?

Your bullets and projectiles usually take time to travel from one point to another and are affected by the gravity, as they would be in real-life. Zeroing Distance can be changed by the ‘Page Up’ and ‘Page Down’ keys and it affects the vertical offset of your gun.

In layman’s terms, it is essentially the distance at which your scope will be dead accurate. For example, the default zeroing distance for most weapons is 100 meters. This means that your bullet will move through the exact point on your scope at 100 meters.

It is important to remember that much like in the real-world, bullets in PUBG travel in an arc to compensate for the gravity and that is where the Zeroing Distance comes into play.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Tips – Utilizing the Zeroing Distance in PUBG

The easiest way to explain it is that if the Zeroing Distance is at 100m and your target is at 50m, then your bullets will land above your reticle. However, if the target is 200m away from you, then the bullet will land at around a few centimeters below where you are aiming.

The speed of the weapon is important, if the speed at which the bullets leave your gun is faster, then you only need to lead your target by a little. Generally, Assault Rifles will have a higher shooting speed than SMGs but this is just a general rule and you will have to play the game to understand how to account for the velocity of your bullets.

Guessing distances should not be too hard. The little squares on your map represent 100m while the yellow square represents 1 Kilometer. You can use this to judge the distance. Horizontal and Vertical distances should be easy enough. Just remember that the diagonal distance from one point of the square to another one is 141, which you can round off to 150.

That is all there is to zeroing, you need to understand the basic mechanics of your scope and then try to experience them in game. Remember that you also need to account for bullet drop at really long distances if your scope cannot zero out that much farther.

Other tips that could be useful are to ensure that you stop moving and utilize the bipods of your weapons if you have them. Going prone makes you most accurate and so does firing in short bursts as opposed to spraying and praying.
