AMD Adrenalin Edition 17.12.2 Fixes Issue Because Of Which DX9 Games Would Not Run

AMD Adrenalin Edition has been out for some time now and while the new drivers did bring a couple of improvements and performance boosts for hardware like the RX 580 and what not, there seemed to be an issue with older DX9 games as well. Older games would not run using the new drivers and because these are old gems, people were really pissed.

First, there was a rumor that AMD had dropped support for older titles but it was later cleared out by AMD that the company was working on a fix for the issue and that the fix would be there in the new update for AMD Adrenalin Edition. Staying true to their word, AMD Adrenalin Edition 17.12.2 is out now and the issue of DX9 games not running has been fixed as well.

This is the first driver update of the year and AMD has been very quick about it, which is always good to see from a company upon which so many people rely. You will not be able to run the following games without any issues what so ever:

  • C & C3 Tiberium Wars
  • C & C3 Kane’s Wrath
  • C & C Red Alert 3
  • C & C Red Alert 3
  • C & C4 Tiberian Twilight
  • Battle for Middle-earth 1 and 2
  • The Witcher 1 Enhanced Edition
  • Mini ninja

These are all really great games and that is the main reason why people were so upset and the initial response from AMD was not all that great either, so there was a bit if a conclusion regarding the matter. But now that the issue is resolved you can play these older titles without any hiccups. A good start to the new year from AMD, lets hope the rest of the year goes as planned as well.
