A Dragon Ball FighterZ open beta is going to be coming to the Xbox One and the Playstation 4 on January 14 to make sure that the game is up to snuff before release. A closed beta had originally been released which allowed a chosen few to take part in the game.
Now, however, anyone who downloads the beta can take part in FighterZ’s amazing fast-paced Dragon Ball fights. The game features characters from both Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super, ranging from villains like the Androids, Cell, Frieza, and Goku Black, to heroes like Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Krillin, and more, along with neutral characters like Hit and Beerus. The game will be the first legitimate 2D Dragon Ball fighting game.
Previous Dragon Ball games were often taking place in three dimensions so that players could fly around and shoot energy blasts at one another, in addition to fighting up close in the air. However, Dragon Ball FighterZ is a 2D fighter, a la Guilty Gear (fitting considering that Arc System Works is developing this game.)
The Dragon Ball FighterZ open beta starting on January 14 means that it will be starting around two weeks before the game’s actual launch date on January 26. The beta will run until January 16, though if you pre-order the game you’ll be able to access the beta early.
While it’s not another Tenkaichi Budokai game like some of the most popular Dragon Ball fighting games, Dragon Ball FighterZ looks absolutely amazing, and hopefully the Dragon Ball FighterZ open beta will run well enough to convince more people to buy it.
While there’s not been any mention yet of a beta version for the PC version of the game, hopefully there will be one in time for the game’s actual release, unless they time it like Bungie did with Destiny 2.
Either way, be on the lookout for the Dragon Ball FighterZ open beta on the Xbox One and Playstation 4 on January 14.
