Microsoft Gives You PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds When You Buy Xbox One X For A Limited Time

Microsoft will give a copy of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds to everyone that buys the Xbox One X from December 17 through December 31, in select regions.

It’s clearly not a secret that Xbox One X isn’t a huge selling hit, despite it being the most powerful console at the moment. However, the console just got a huge boost with the release of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Microsoft will get an advantage of it.

As part of a holiday promotion, Microsoft will give a copy of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds to everyone that buys the Xbox One X from December 17 through December 31, in select regions.

This may not seem like a huge deal but it comes just in time for the holiday sales. Without this deal, it would seem unlikely that the Xbox One X would manage to sell as many units as the PlayStation 4 Pro will, especially with the PSVR price dropping drastically. Microsoft doesn’t seem to want to play the console sales game anymore.

Phil Spencer has already revealed that Microsoft won’t make any profit out of Xbox One X and instead will focus on selling games, peripherals, and services such as the Live Gold and Game Pass subscriptions:

I don’t want to get into all the numbers, but in aggregate you should think about the hardware part of the console business is not the money-making part of the business. The money-making part is in selling games.

According to Microsoft, the Game Preview version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds had a million players in its first 48 hours. Even with some minor bumps with the game’s performance, it managed to win over the Xbox One fans, hoping to get even more in the future.

If you are a fan of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and were thinking of switching to a new console then these next weeks are a good opportunity for you to think about grabbing an Xbox One X.

As announced the game will be exclusively available on PC and Xbox One, so we don’t expect seeing it on our PlayStation 4 in the future.
