A new Witcher 3 mod has helped players go back in time to the original Witcher game, and more specifically the prologue of that game. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was probably the most successful of all of the Witcher games, but the earlier games have just as many fans as newcomers.
The original Witcher’s story begins with an amnesiatic Geralt of Rivia returning to the Witcher stronghold of Kaer Morhen after being found injured near its walls. However, soon after Geralt’s recovery the castle is attacked by a mob, led by a sorcerer who also has a giant monster at his call. Geralt and the Witchers fight off the attack, but discover that secret documents that tell how to create new Witchers have been stolen, and Geralt is dispatched to find out who stole them and get them back.
The Witcher 3 mod puts every improvement that the Wild Hunt has made over the original Witcher game into good practice, improving not just the graphics and the look of Kaer Morhen, but also the combat. Far away from the timed clicking of the original game, the Witcher 3’s combat is fast and fluid, and it’s far more practical in all of the different situations you could find yourself in.
The mod is currently available to download on the PC, and you can even buy the original Witcher game off of a variety of online gaming stores like Steam or Good Old Games to play through the opening mission for yourself. While it’s definitely nothing like Wild Hunt, it’s still a solid play that has a great story, even if the combat and gameplay isn’t the best.
The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt is available on the PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4, with two huge bits of DLC. If you want to see the Witcher 3 mod replicated for yourself, you can follow this link to Gamespot.
