Intel 9th Generation CPUs Will Have More Cores Than Coffee Lake, Intel 9700K To Feature 8 Cores

Intel 9th Generation CPUs need to offer a boost in performance in order to compete with the current AMD Ryzen CPUs that offer more cores and threads. The current Intel Coffee Lake CPUs have up to 6 cores and 12 threads. Having that said there are new reports that claim that the upcoming Intel 9th Generation CPUs will feature up to 8 cores and 16 threads.

You can check out the complete Intel Coffee Lake lineup coming next year. You can also check out the upcoming Intel Coffee Lake H series CPUs that come with AMD Radeon graphics. While there have been some rumors regarding the upcoming Intel Coffee Lake series of CPUs there is some confusion regarding the upcoming Intel 9th generation CPUs will be based on Cannon Lake or Coffee Lake refresh.

What we know for sure right now is that the i7 CPUs will have a TDP of 95W, same as the unlocked i5 CPUs. The locked versions of the i5 series will have a TDP of 65W and the i3 series will also have the same TDP except for the mobile versions that will have a TDP of 35W.

AMD has been putting a lot of pressure on Intel and whether you hate or love AMD you have to admit that AMD has forced Intel to bring more cores and threads to the table. AMD is also bringing the Raven Ridge APUs to the desktops and the BIOS of a few motherboards has also been updated in order to update these APUs.

It is highly likely that these Intel 9th Generation CPUs will come out with the release of the Intel Z390 motherboards which will be coming out at the end of 2018.

Let us know what you think about the upcoming Intel 9th Generation CPUs and whether or not you think they will be worth the update.
