Slitherine Software Announces Warhammer 40,000: Gladius, A 4X Strategy Game

Slitherine Software has announced a new 4X title called Warhammer 40,000: Gladius, a strategy game based on the Warhammer 40,000 universe created by Games Workshop. The game currently has a Steam page and will apparently be coming out next year, so you can put it on your Steam wishlist if you’re a 40K fan.

There’s not very much to go on in the game right now, except the game’s setup: four factions of the Warhammer 40,000 universe (the Imperial Guard and Space Marines of the Imperium of Man, the cybernetic, omnicidal Necrons, and the hyperviolent and savage Orks) all come to the planet Gladius Prime at the same time, and must claim victory over all of the other factions.

Each of these factions will have their own individual mechanics, units technology trees, heroes, and more, to complement their different methods of waging war, ranging from the sheer firepower of the Imperial Guard, the unfaltering advance of the Necrons, the sheer numbers of the Orks, and the power of the Space Marines.

Players will be able to compete either against the AI or against friends or strangers across the world, going through a storyline that’s different depending on whether you’re playing alone or with other human-controlled factions.

Slitherine Software has a great deal of experience in developing strategy games, so it’s likely that Warhammer 40,000: Gladius will be an excellent game. The studio also previously developed a turn-based game known as Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon, which allowed players to take control of human or ork forces during a devastating war on a planet known as Armageddon.

There’s no official release date yet for Gladius, but we do have a trailer (which you can watch above) and an official Steam page. If you’re interested in Warhammer 40,000 and enjoy 4X games, hopefully this will be a game that lives up to its potential. Warhammer 40,000: Gladius will be available exclusively on PC.
