Pokemon Ultra Sun And Ultra Moon Sold 1.2 Million Copies In Japan In Just Three Days
Pokemon Ultra Sun And Ultra Moon has been officially released 5 days ago as the last core Pokemon title for the Nintendo 2DS/3DS. Japan is the country Nintendo is counting on to bring them huge numbers of sales and, as expected, they were right. Pokemon Ultra Sun And Ultra Moon in Japan has sold almost 1.2 Million copies in just three days since its release, according to Famitsu.
As Famitsu’s own sales tracker for the game in Japan indicates, Pokemon Ultra Sun And Ultra Moon sold 1,199,814 copies (estimated domestic sales) on Nintendo 3DS from November 17, 2017 to November 19. Same were the results from the manufacturer, saying that the game sold 1.2 million copies in just 3 days of release.
The release of Pokemon Ultra Sun And Ultra Moon also helped with the sales of Nintendo 3DS since the console sold more than twice as many units than in the week before its launch. According to the same source, the weekly sales volume of the Nintendo 3DS main unit (including New3DS, New3DS LL, 2DS, New2DS LL) of this release week (November 13 – November 19, 2017) was 40,582 units, from 18,687 units in the previous week.
Those numbers will be bumped a bit more through the next days during the Black Friday event. The high point of sales is expected to be on the winter holidays in late December.
From now on Pokemon core titles will most likely be brought to Nintendo Switch, which is outselling the current-gen consoles at the moment. As Nintendo is bringing more and more major franchises like Pokemon to the Switch, it has the potential to be a real game-changer for the console war.
