Much similar to the first installment, Destiny 2 has also stemmed disdain from the community for its rather frustrating and disappointing rewards system.
It is one of the main reasons why everyone is excited about the upcoming expansion pack. Curse of Osiris not only brings new content for players to go through, but also a more rewarding experience when it comes to loot. Bungie has been promising as such for weeks now and to highlight the very fact once again, showed off a new Public Event earlier this week in a livestream.
The core purpose was to assure Guardians that Curse of Osiris features several new activities with far more rewards that anything Destiny 2 currently offers. Unfortunately, the demonstration had the opposite effect.
Once the fireteam completed the event, two chests appeared on the screen. The resulting rewards were just two Mercury Tokens and a single Rare (Blue) Engram.
“I promised before that this was the most rewarding public event and there we have it,” community manager David “DeeJ” Dague meekly commented.
The community is now making its frustration known even more on social media outlets. These livestreams from the developer were to show everyone that it has been listening to feedback. However, what has been shared so far, has failed to convince the masses.
There is already an outcry that Destiny 2 rewards players with too few Tokens. In fact, the entire Token-dependent system is not looked at kindly right now. Seeing two of them come up from two chests in an activity that promised better rewards has everyone naturally shaking their heads in disbelief.
The concerns are legitimate but it should also be noted that many content creators had the opportunity to try out the new events in Curse of Osiris. According to Gamerant, they had much better luck with the loot.
Curse of Osiris releases for Destiny 2 on December 5 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
