GWENT Singleplayer Campaign Delayed Till 2018
Developer CD Projekt Red is working GWENT: The Witcher card game along with the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077. GWENT has been confirmed to have a singleplayer campaign, however, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that GWENT singleplayer campaign has been delayed.
According to CD Projekt Red, the reason GWENT singleplayer campaign has been delayed is that the development team has decided to increase the scope of the campaign and while shifting the game’s release window is a serious matter for them but, to fully achieve their vision they need more time.
Thronebreaker, GWENT’s story-driven single player campaign, is moving to 2018. We decided to increase the campaign’s scope and need more time to work on it. Shifting release windows is always something we approach seriously, however, we’ll never hesitate to do it if we feel you’ll get a better game as a result. I would like to apologize everyone who planned to play Thronebreaker over the Holidays — I assure you that we will do our best to make the final game worth the additional wait.
Hearthstone is another card game that has a huge community of dedicated followers and its influence can be seen on other card games, however, according to CD Projekt Red, getting GWENT to that level will be extremely hard.
According to Jakub Szamalek, the principal writer on Gwent, the Collectible Card Game sub-genre is popular partly because of Hearthstone. He added that it would be very difficult to top Hearthstone given that it has a huge community.
He added that “It’s extremely hard to get anywhere near close in terms of what Hearthstone enjoys in terms of number of players. But I think there is room for good card games
GWENT The Witcher Card Game will launch for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but no specific release date has been announced.
