The Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti Runs So Hot You Can Cook An Egg On It

The Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti is the best that you can buy when it comes to consumer graphics cards if you exclude the Titan Xp. There is a new Titan Xp Star Wars collectors edition out now which you can check out if you are interested. We all know that the Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti reference design runs pretty hot when gaming but the question is can it fry an egg?

PC Gamer was brave enough to experiment with an egg and the Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti and the graphics card ran very got indeed and got to more than 80C. At that temperature the Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti was able to cook the egg. It is important to note that it took a while for the graphics card to get that hot and that Pascal cards don’t usually run that hot.

Pascal GPUs including the Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti have a mechanism where the card turns down the clock speeds when it runs too hot. This keeps the graphics card from overheating and getting damaged over time. You can check out the video here.

The Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti is a great card for 4K gaming and is marketed to run games at 4K 60 FPS and that is the case in most games. You can check out how well the graphics card performs in games like CoD WWII, Wolfenstein II, Star Wars BF2, Destiny 2 and Shadow of War. This experiment is for entertainment and we do not advise you to try this on your own.
