Report: Star Wars Battlefront 2 Loot Boxes Were Meant To Be Cosmetics Only

Originally Star Wars Battlefront 2 loot boxes weren't this ridiculous and were only meant to have cosmetic items like Overwatch.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 has been heavily criticized for its loot boxes as the game locked the progression system behind these loot boxes before EA decided to remove them temporarily, however, originally Star Wars Battlefront 2 loot boxes weren’t this ridiculous and were only meant to have cosmetic items.

According to a report from VentureBeat, who claims that an anonymous source of theirs has revealed that Star Wars Battlefront 2 loot boxes were originally meant to have only cosmetic items instead of Star Cards but, the loot boxes were changed by the developers at the request of Disney’s Star Wars division Lucasfilm.

Furthermore, Star Wars Battlefront 2 also had an Overwatch like cooperative game mode that focused on teamwork, however, like the cosmetic only loot boxes, this game mode was also scrapped.

EA has decided to pull out the microtransactions from Star Wars Battlefront 2, however, this is only a temporary measure as the company still intends to include them but, the next they appear they will be significantly tweaked based on players feedback.

“We hear you loud and clear, so we’re turning off all in-game purchases We will now spend more time listening, adjusting, balancing and tuning.

We have created a game that is built on your input, and it will continue to evolve and grow. We want you to enjoy it, so please keep your thoughts coming. And we will keep you updated on our progress.”

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is a first-person action shooter developed by EA DICE for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
