The recently announced Street Fighter V Arcade Edition will be one of the major exhibitions at PlayStation Experience (PSX 2017) next month.
Posting on the official PlayStation Blog earlier today, Sony confirmed that it will be one of “more than 100 playable titles” on the show-floor this year. This will be the first time that the general public has the opportunity to try out the upcoming edition first hand before its release next year.
PSX 2017 has a lot in store for the fighting game community. Capcom will firstly be hosting the Capcom Cup to conclude another year of competitive proceedings for the Capcom Pro Tour.
The developer is then expected to announce another character pass for the third season, where we might possibly get to see the rumored Sagat make his appearance. When Capcom made the announcement for the character pass for the second season last year, it surprised everyone by bringing out Akuma.
Street Fighter V Arcade Edition will be a free update for existing owners. It will feature new game modes, including the long-awaited arcade mode with its own monthly ranking system, secondary V-Triggers for every character on the roster, improvements to the user interface, and more.
It is scheduled to release on January 16 for PlayStation 4 and PC at the cost of $39.99. It will be available in both physical and digital forms on the console, but only digitally on PC. Pre-ordering a physical copy from select retailers will get you nine costumes for free.
Street Fighter V has now sold more than 1.9 million units worldwide across both platforms. The upcoming edition will help boost those figures for the next quarter.
