Elder Scrolls Skyrim on Nintendo Switch has just been released and it’s a title that everyone is curious about. Is the game running smoothly on the console? Do its graphics look as good on Nintendo Switch as previously seen on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One?
Skyrim Nintendo Switch Edition has already been compared to all the other consoles and it runs so well that Youtuber Arekkz Gaming decided to do a side by side comparison with the most powerful console right now, the Xbox One X on 1080p. Don’t forget that we see The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim Special Edition, which is a remastered one, on both consoles and not the classic 2011 version of the game.
With a first glimpse, Skyrim seems identical on both consoles which seems almost impossible for a console with the hardware of a handheld. When docked, the Nintendo Switch version of the game seems to be coming head to head with both Sony’s and Microsoft’s consoles. For a game as old as this though, no one would expect anything more graphics-wise.
Nintendo Switch is a handheld console too though and that’s where it exceeds the expectations. Being able to play Skyrim on a smooth 720p on 30 locked FPS anywhere anytime seems like a pretty good deal and it sure is worth the replay.
There are some noticeable differences, as expected, like the color saturation and the contrast being a little higher on the Xbox One X but overall Bethesda’s flagship is holding up just fine as is. Given the title has just been released, it will be a few days be for we get a full picture of how the game runs on Nintendo Switch, but seeing it looking good on a handheld console is a breath of fresh air.
Don’t forget that Skyrim is also coming to PlayStation 4 as a VR title in an exclusive bundle. The PSVR Skyrim VR Bundle comes with the headset, Skyrim VR, the move controllers as well as the camera. So that is everything that you need in order to get into VR.
