Three (or four, depending on your interpretation) new Dragon Ball FighterZ characters have been announced today, expanding the roster for the Dragon Ball Z 2D fighter even more. Players will also be able to play as Adult Gohan, Kid Buu, and Gotenks when the game releases on January 26 of next year.
These will be adding to the roster that includes Dragon Ball heroes like Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta, Trunks, Teen Gohan, Krillin, Tien, and Yamcha, along with many villains like Cell, Frieza, Nappa, the Androids (16, 17, and 18), Captain Ginyu of the Ginyu Force, and Majin Buu (in his chubby, cheerful, “Innocent” form).
Two different versions of Gohan and Buu being implemented into the roster are nothing new; Goku and Vegeta already have multiple versions of themselves, including their normal forms and their Super Saiyan Blue forms. Kid Buu and Innocent Buu are also essentially completely different versions of Majin Buu, as Kid Buu is completely evil while Innocent Buu was eventually turned to good.
Gotenks being a part of the new Dragon Ball FighterZ characters is also interesting, as he’s a Fusion character, made by Goku’s younger son Goten and the kid version of Trunks both fusing together, combining their power to become one stronger fighter.
The plot of Dragon Ball FighterZ will focus on the Dragon Ball heroes fighting a new threat, an army of android copies of themselves led by Android 16 and led by a new Android, who was reportedly the wife of the Android’s creator, Dr. Gero.
Either way, to see the new Dragon Ball FighterZ characters in action, you’ll have to wait until they appear in the game. Dragon Ball FighterZ comes out on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC (and possibly the Nintendo Switch if demand’s high enough) on January 26 of next year. There will likely also be a number of other characters that will be added to the game post-release.
