We recently talked about the iPhone X Plus as Apple was looking for a supplier for screens and now we have further details regarding the iPhone X Plus models that could be coming out next year. We are getting reports that there will be three different sizes of the iPhone X next year and there will be 2 iPhone X Plus models.
We already know about the standard iPhone X with the 5.7-inch OLED screen. Next year we could see a larger iPhone X Plus with a 6.1-inch LCD screen instead. While the standard version of the phone has 458 PPI the LCD model will feature 330 PPI.
There will also be an even larger iPhone X Plus coming out next year and the screen on this one will be 6.5-inches, which is huge. The PPI on this device will be 500 and the display will be an OLED panel just like the standard phone.
We are used to getting the SE model but I guess Apple is ditching the smaller phone and next year instead of the SE we will be getting the iPhone X Plus with the 6.1-inch screen. As the display on the phone is not an OLED panel but an LCD, this phone could be cheaper than the standard iPhone X as well as the much bigger iPhone X Plus.
Having that said, do not expect some kind of miracle, the standard iPhone is pretty expensive and the bigger one is going to cost even more. The LCD version might be cheaper but I am sure that the price difference is not going to be drastic and the phone is still going to be considered expensive at the end of the day. Let’s not forget that this is Apple we are talking about here.
Getting more sizes out there might be another way of getting more market share and it is possible that the one size fits all strategy is no longer working for Apple. There seems to be an issue with the iPhone X and the screen seems to not respond when using the device in cold climates. You can read about that here.
