HTC Vive Focus is a new stand-alone VR headset, this means there are no wires what so ever. HTC has delivered pre-production units for developers and if you are interested in getting a developers kit then you could request for one. The demos of the HTC Vive Focus reveal that the potential is there but a lot comes down to the quality of the apps.

The HTC Vive Focus is lighter than the HTC Vive and the cushion makes it more comfortable to wear as well. The HTC Vive Focus also has a much cleaner look because of the reduced number of sensors that it needs in order to function, as compared to the HTC Vive.

At the bottom of the main body is where you will find the volume buttons as well as the distance dial and a headphone jack. On the top, you have the micro-USB socket for recharging. The headset has built-in stereo speakers if you do not want to have headphones on at all. The HTC Vive Focus comes with inside-out tracking to no external sensors are needed.

The HTC Vive Focus will not be coming to Europe and it also does not use Google Daydream. Instead, it uses Viveport. You can check out the pictures of the HTC Vive Focus below:

Talking about the specs of the HTC Vive Focus, the headset features the Snapdragon 835 and 4GB of memory. The AMOLED display with 2,560 × 1,440 pixels works with 90 Hz and eye-tracking. The specs are impressive but we will see how this translates into gaming and other applications and whether or not the platform get the attention of developers or not. The platform will need to have apps in order to be a success.

Let us know what you think about the Vive Focus and whether or not you are interested in getting your hands on one of these stand-alone headsets.
