With the Xbox One X out now people are looking for more information regarding the Sony PS5, when they can get one and what the price of the console will be. The Xbox One X has better hardware than the PS4 as well as the PS4 Pro so you can imagine why people are worried. But it seems that the PS4 is here to stay for a few more years and that the Sony PS5 will not be coming out before 2019.
This would make sense as such things are not created out of the blue and are planned ahead of time. Even it is it in the planning phase it will take another few months to be finalized and another few weeks to mass produce if not more. This means that the PS4 will enjoy a 6-year lifespan which is plenty for a console generation considering that the Sony PS5 will feature next-gen hardware.
This also aligns with the fact that we are going to get a Vega refresh and then AMD Navi. Seeing how the AMD Vega GPUs are short in the market this could take some time. If the upcoming Sony PS5 is going to be based on an AMD Navi GPU then 2019 is your best bet. This is also what Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot had to say about the release of the Sony PS5, according to him it is “minimum of two years away”.
Pachter talked about the price of the upcoming consoles and according to him:
“I don’t think next gen consoles will be $500…though I guess the right answer is, let’s see what happens with the Xbox One X.”
If the Sony PS5 is going to compete with the Xbox One X and is going to come years afterward then you can expect to see drastic improvements in performance as well as hardware.
Let us know what you think about the Sony PS5 and whether or not you are interested in getting the next generation console.
