Mafia 3 To Render At 1728p On Xbox One X, Will Be The Only Version To Support HDR
With the launch of Xbox One X more and more games are receiving the 4K treatment and Mafia 3 is also getting the same treatment on Xbox One X and developer Deck 13 has revealed the resolution and other enhanced features the game will be getting on the console.
According to Executive Producer at Hangar 13, Mafia 3 will run at 3072×1728 resolution on Xbox One X which then be upscaled to 3840×2160 interestingly the game will not use any form of checkerboard technique to achieve it. Furthermore, the Xbox One X version of Mafia 3 will be the only version of the game to support HDR.
He also discussed the differences between the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X versions of Mafia 3. “The two main differences with the Xbox One X version are a higher overall resolution and the addition of HDR. On top of this we have also improved graphical quality for various rendering features, including SSAO, Geometry Detail, Shadows and Volumetric Effects.”
He further added that “We released a PS4 Pro patch for launch last year and continued to improve the game over the course of 2017, so the Pro version represents a big upgrade over the original at launch. For the release of the Xbox One X we wanted to revisit the game one last time and try to push the metal as hard as possible, something I think we’ve achieved pretty well!”.
Speaking of Xbox One X enhancements, Destiny 2 will also be enhanced for the console and the patch for the game will drop on December 5. Destiny 2 will support High Dynamic Range(HDR) and adaptive 4K on the newly released console.
The console is capable of running games at 4K/60 FPS, however, despite that Project Code: SHIFT devs Mike Dai and Roger don’t think the console will be pushed to its limits anytime soon.
Mafia 3 is an open-world action adventure game developed by Deck 13 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
