If you want to see how a game as good-looking as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt can look on the state-of-the-art tech of the Xbox One X, you can try it now. According to a video by NX Gamer, the Witcher 3 FPS can hold steady at 60 without patches in most places.
This means that you can play the vast majority of the game in a silky-smooth 60 frames per second framerate, though in the city of Novigrad, one of the game’s other major areas, players will notice a drop down to 30 or 40 frames per second.
Considering that the Witcher 3 already looks really good even without the Witcher 3 FPS running at 60 frames per second, you’ll probably finally get to see what it can do when it’s working at what is essentially its full potential.
CD Projekt RED opted to make a new port of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for the Xbox One X, and the console has been having its power touted by many developers for many months before it came out. While the console is releasing a year behind the Playstation 4 Pro, its direct competitor, hopefully its greater power will be able to overcome things like its higher price and the sales gap between the Xbox and Playstation 4.
The Witcher 3 is only one of the many different Xbox games that will be either exclusive or timed-exclusive for the Xbox in the next few years, a situation that Xbox is hoping will close the sales gap. One of the Xbox One’s main flaws was a lack of any truly desirable exclusive games, while the Playstation 4 got games like Bloodborne and more on its launch.
While CD Projekt RED has said that they weren’t considering a redone port for the Playstation 4 Pro, the studio may reconsider with the sales gap despite the Witcher 3 being a very popular game. To see the Witcher 3 FPS for yourself, you can either watch this video, or, if you have an Xbox One X, buy the game for yourself.
