To resolve this issue you need to clear Delete the cache, Delete preferences, and then recheck the cache and it has to be done in the same order. Also, make sure the game is not running while following these steps.
To delete the cache, first, make sure you can see the hidden files and navigate to C:\Users\Your Username\AppData\Local\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2018. Here delete the cache folder.
