The upcoming Intel Coffee Lake H series of CPUs has been rumored for some time now. We heard about a partnership between AMD and Intel for an upcoming CPU but there has been little information regarding the CPU until now. Here we have some leaked benchmarks and the confirmation for the upcoming Intel Coffee Lake H CPUs that will feature AMD Radeon graphics.
The upcoming Intel Coffee Lake H series of CPUs will feature HBM2 memory and that will enable efficient processing and battery saving. All this translates into high performance and lower power draw. The previous integrated graphics were licensed by Nvidia but now that deal has expired and Intel is now going to join forces with AMD instead.
Intel Coffee Lake H will feature a 50% smaller footprint and enable real-time power sharing between the CPU and the GPU. According to Scott Herkelman, vice president and general manager, AMD Radeon Technologies Group:
The new product, which will be part of our 8th Gen Intel Core family, brings together our high-performing Intel Core H-series processor, second generation High Bandwidth Memory (HBM2) and a custom-to-Intel third-party discrete graphics chip from AMD’s Radeon Technologies Group* – all in a single processor package.
We also have information regarding the Intel Coffee Lake G series of CPUs which will feature 24 compute units which add up to 1536 stream processors. The clock speeds will be 1-1.1 GHz with a compute power of 3.3 TFLOPs. Note that this is more than the original Xbox One. The entire Intel Coffee Lake G series will feature 4 cores and threads.
“Together, we are offering gamers and content creators the opportunity to have a thinner-and-lighter PC capable of delivering discrete performance-tier graphics experiences in AAA games and content creation applications. This new semi-custom GPU puts the performance and capabilities of Radeon graphics into the hands of an expanded set of enthusiasts who want the best visual experience possible.”
At this point in time, the known SKUs are the Intel Core i7-8705G and the Intel Core i7-8809G. The 694C:C0 (Kaby Lake G with Integrated AMD Radeon Graphics) scored 6393 in the Car Chase scene, 7367 in Manhattan 3.1 and 31088 in the T-Rex scenario.
