Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti Vs AMD Vega 56: Performance

The main difference between the graphics cards is the memory type that has been used. While the Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti uses GDDR5 memory, Vega 56 uses HBM2 memory. When it comes to speed of the cards, the Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti takes the lead by 9%. The AMD Vega 56, on the other hand, offers 16% better texture detailing.

The Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti offers 10% better multi-rendering while the AMD Vega 56 offers 19% better compute splatting. The Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti also offers 21% faster NBody calculation. When both GPUs are overclocked we see that the peak texture detail is better on the AMD Vega 56 by 17% and peak multi-rendering is better on the GTX 1070 Ti by 20%.

Furthermore, peak NBody calculation is better by 22% on the Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti and the AMD Vega 56 is 11% better when it comes to peak complex splatting. The Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti performs better when it comes to lighting effects and reflection handling. The Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti might be a new graphics card but the Pascal architecture has been tried and tested.

Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti Vs AMD Vega 56: Gaming Benchmarks

We tested the Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti and the AMD Vega 56 in Grand Theft Auto V, Rise of the Tombraider, Doom and Hitman. All games have been tested at 1440p. The following are the results that we got.

You can see how well the GTX 1070 Ti performs as compared to the Vega 56 but you have to keep in mind that the performance will vary from game to game and there will be some cases where the AMD Vega 56 will come on top but in most cases, the GTX 1070 Ti takes the lead.

While the 1070 Ti does cost more if you consider the MRSP but you will see that things are different in the market. Furthermore, with the AMD Vega cards short in the market you are better off buying the GTX 1070 Ti now rather than waiting for the Vega cards. You can check out more GTX 1070 Ti Benchmarks here.
