Just recently Starcraft got the remastered treatment and since then many fans of World Of Warcraft 3 and Diablo 2 fans have been wondering when these two will get the remastered treatment. Well, Blizzard has answered as to why there are no Warcraft 3 Remaster or Diablo 2 remaster.
Speaking with PCGamesN, Blizzard’s senior producer Peter Stilwell shed some light on why there are no Warcraft 3 remaster and Diablo 2 remaster. According to Stilwell, Starcraft’s balance is considered perfect by the community and the studio itself but, Warcraft 3 and Diablo 2 are not perfect and the team doesn’t feel comfortable remastering these two.
Sitwell further noted that Diablo 2’s leaderboards are full of hackers. He added that the team’s goal of Diablo 2 is to “keep rolling seasons but maybe eventually be good enough at combating them that you see real names at the top of the leaderboard again”.
He added that the “Map Pool” for Warcraft 3 is stale as a lot of maps are rejected by players. In essence, Starcraft has a perfect balance and the community doesn’t want it to be changed while on the other hand frequent requests are being made to make changes in Warcraft 3 and has an active PTR.
Furthermore, he added that if they go for Warcraft 3 remaster and Diablo 2 remaster, the current communities will be greatly affected and Blizzard Entertainment is trying to avoid that.
While we won’t be getting any Diablo 2 remaster and Blizzard itself is in no mood to talk about anything Diablo 4 related. However, a report suggests that Blizzard is working on Diablo 4 and will feature an extensive multiplayer component.
