The Asus Strix S7zc Is The First AMD Ryzen Powered Gaming Laptop

The Asus Strix S7zc is the first gaming laptop that is powered by an AMD Ryzen CPU. The Asus Strix S7zc features an AMD Ryzen 7 1700 paired with an AMD RX 580. The AMD Ryzen 7 1700 features 8 cores and 16 threads and has a base clock of 3.0Ghz and can boost to 3.7GHz. The CPU also has 16 MB of L3 cache. The TDP is 65W.

The AMD Ryzen 7 1700 paired with the AMD RX 580 should be plenty in order to play games at 1080p 60 FPS and the screen is a 17.3-inch 1080p panel. The CPU and GPU are going to produce a lot of heat but Asus has you covered with a custom cooling solution that is made up of two fans and seven heat pipes. This should be enough to keep temps in check.

You also get 16GB of DDR4-2400 memory and you can upgrade that to up to 32GB, 256 GB M.2 SSD along with a 1TB 5400 RPM hard drive. With that, you also have GigaLAN and 802.11ac Wi-Fi, ROG Sonic Studio audio speakers. Port selection includes miniDP, HDMI 1.4, SD card reader, 3× USB 3.0.

The Asus Strix S7zc has the typical Black and Red gaming theme and backlit keys as well. With the lower TDP I am sure that the hardware will take a hit in performance but as of right now we do not know how much of a difference that will make as compared to the desktop version.

We do not know how much the Asus Strix S7zc will cost you but looking at the hardware and the fact that this is an Asus product, you can expect the price to be anything north of $1000. For more information regarding the Asus Strix S7zc stay tuned.
