Bungie announced the Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris expansion today at the Paris Games Week presentation, showing off the first expansion that is coming to Destiny 2. We’ll be going back into the City’s past to one of its exiled Guardians, a Warlock named Osiris (the same person the Trials are named after.)
According to Ikora Rey in the trailer, Osiris was banished from the Last City after his “dangerous” ideas nearly destroyed it. However, now a rising threat from the Vex is forcing the Guardians to find Osiris again.
Players going into the Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris expansion might be familiar with the sorts of Vex you’re fighting, as they’re the same Vex from the past and future that you encountered if you went into the Vault of Glass. Since these Vex both come from timelines where they have complete domination of the universe, you can assume that their entry into this timeline is extremely bad.
Either way, the expansion will focus around players traveling to Mercury to find Osiris and secure his help in fighting the Vex. Players will be going to the Lighthouse (that often strived-for but rarely-reached space that you get for winning nine games in Trials of Osiris) as a new social space and will be able to travel the whole of Mercury, which was turned from a Golden Age garden world to a machine world by Vex during the Collapse.
The Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris expansion is going to be releasing on December 5, so that gives you a bit more time to do things like finish the story, go through the Strikes, run the Raid, and work your way up to a level where you can take on the expansion’s new story.
This is especially good for PC players, as they should be getting the expansion right when they’re starting to run out of content, if they’re not the sort of gamers that will do everything within weeks and then drop the game for a short time.
