Hellboy Arrives for Injustice 2 Next Month, Takes Enemies to Hell in New Gameplay Trailer

Hellboy, the latest downloadable character for Injustice 2, is just about done buffing his horns and will officially join the roster on November 14.

In a new gameplay trailer released on the weekend, the cigar-chugging demon spawn is shown pulling off different moves and abilities. Due to his size, Hellboy is not a character that thrives on speed to rush down his opponents in the sequel. He prefers to pummel them into the ground using his stone-hand, whipping them into the air with his point tail, and shooting them down with his trusty sidearm called the Samaritan.

For his ultimate ability, Hellboy literally takes his opponents straight down into hell for a beating before bringing them back into the real world. He can also summon vines from the beyond to lash out.

Hellboy belongs to publisher Dark Horse Comics and this will be his first significant appearance in a fighting game. Injustice 2 has not been afraid to feature guest characters that go beyond the rich universe of DC Comics. NetherRealm Studios has previously included Sub-Zero and Raiden from its Mortal Kombat franchise.

Fans would love the fact that the developer has respected the iconic character and remained faithful to the source material. The “Right Hand of Doom” has not forgotten his signature humor. He can also bring forth his fiery horns and crown during a fight, which looks absolutely amazing.

Hellboy is the last inclusion from the Fighter Pack 3. NetherRealm Studios is expected to announce the fourth pack for Injustice 2 in the months ahead. The fighting game community can start speculating as to what new characters will be making their way to the roster in the next year. It goes without saying that there are probably more guest characters in the pipelines.

Injustice 2 is currently available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The PC version was supposed to begin with a beta on Steam this week but was delayed indefinitely.
