A new Ubisoft San Francisco job posting has been put up on the studio’s website, advertising openings for multiplayer staff for a new game. Whether it’s yet another South Park game or is something original remains to be seen, but either way it will apparently have multiplayer in it.
Ubisoft San Francisco is the same studio behind South Park: The Fractured But Whole (in contrast to Stick of Truth, which was developed by Obsidian Entertainment), but what exactly they might be working on that has multiplayer remains to be seen. While the South Park games have both provided excellent story-driven RPGs, it’s unlikely that we’ll get any multiplayer out of any South Park game.
That leaves it to be some form of more original IP. Whether it’s an Assassin’s Creed game that’s getting multiplayer (which has been absent from the series since Assassin’s Creed: Unity and its cooperative multiplayer gameplay), or even something not part of any currently existing Ubisoft franchise, if you want to take part in the development process you might want to respond to the Ubisoft San Francisco job posting.
The four job openings that were included are Senior Multiplayer Game Designer, Gameplay Network Engineer, Core Network Engineer, and Senior Core Engineer. All of these positions would be needed to make sure that multiplayer gameplay runs smoothly and is well put-together, and as such you might not want to apply for these unless you have a good amount of experience.
Whatever it is that the Ubisoft San Francisco job posting is for, hopefully when it’s announced, it looks amazing. And hopefully, when it’s actually released, it’s just as good as it looked on its announcement.
In the meantime, you can still pick up South Park: The Fractured But Whole on PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4, and take a look at our guides to find your way through it.
