AMD CEO Expects Xbox One X And PS4 Pro To Sell Well This Holiday Season
Xbox one X is just over a couple of weeks away from launch and gamers are looking forward to what the console can offer. However, with the console’s $499.99 price tag it will be difficult for it to overthrow PS4 but, according to AMD CEO, she is expecting a healthy demand for both the upcoming Xbox and PS4 Pro this holiday season.
During the recent earnings call for the company, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa T. Su revealed that she expects Xbox One X and PS4 Pro to sell really well this holiday season but, noted that “revenue will be down a little bit on a year-over-year basis” but, not that much.
Our semi-custom business continues to perform as expected for the year and we anticipate seasonal demand to remain healthy as our customers enter the holiday sales cycle with Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro and Microsoft’s Xbox One X.
We believe that semi-custom revenue will be down a little bit on a year-over-year basis, and that’s expected. We’re in the fifth year of the cycle and you would expect that units to be down, although we have some positive mix because of the new launch of the Microsoft Xbox One X console, which is a higher ASP product for us.
Speaking of Xbox One X, the console will be getting tons of enhanced titles which also includes Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Now, Microsoft has rolled out a couple of videos showcasing how beautiful Halo 3 looks on Xbox One X.
Aside from the resolution, the video showcases a clear increase in the details and image quality of the overall scene.
Xbox One X will launch on November 7, 2017, for $499.99 and will get games such as Gears Of War 4, Forza 7, Halo 5, Doom and more and all of these titles will be enhanced for the upcoming console.
