A new Metal Gear Survive announcement is apparently being teased for October 25, tomorrow. Whether it’s news about the game’s release date, or some more gameplay, or even if we dare to dream of the game being cancelled, we’ll just have to see. Metal Gear Survive hasn’t had much information about it lately.
The game is something of an…”alternate”…story to Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, where the remains of the first Mother Base were sucked into a wormhole and spewed out into an alternate world inhabited by zombies, leaving several survivors of the Diamond Dogs to try and survive the hordes.
Ever since the game was released we haven’t had much information about it, just a few minutes of gameplay and a whole lot of anger towards Konami messing with Metal Gear’s storyline for a cheap, Kojimaless cash-in. While Metal Gear has always had a rather tenuous grasp on reality with the psychic powers, pyromancy, and insect control, among other things, there’s a difference between all of that and wormholes and zombies.
This game, along with the various Metal Gear Solid pachinko games, haven’t done anything to ingratiate Konami to Metal Gear fans in the last few years. Whether the Metal Gear Survive announcement will actually try and make the game appeal to them, or will be some other sort of announcement (maybe Metal Gear Survive Pachinko), we’ll have to see.
The game has already been delayed until early 2018 for unknown reasons, and even though we know what platforms it will be releasing on (the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC) we still don’t have an official release date. If the announcement actually has anything meaty in it, the Metal Gear Survive release date will likely be it.
In the meantime, if you’re at least interested in the game, you can check out the Metal Gear Survive announcement tomorrow, whenever it’s released.
