The fact that Shin Megami Tensei is coming to the Nintendo Switch was not fresh news. Even though a new Shin Megami Tensei title can be found on all “most anticipated Nintendo Switch titles” we had almost no idea as to what it will be. Today Atlus revealed a teaser trailer for Shin Megami Tensei V for Nintendo Switch and the JRPG fans can begin hyping about it.
While 2017 marks the 25th anniversary of the series, it was almost impossible that Atlus wouldn’t release a new Shin Megami Tensei title for Nintendo’s new console. The game was teased back in January and since then we were waiting patiently.
The reveal trailer for Shin Megami Tensei V seems to be in-game footage with an opening scene of a train station and 2 characters, a male, and a female in a scene which is set in modern-day Tokyo. It continues with a shot of demon corpses in a tunnel and after that, the students surrounded by flying demons in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo street. As Gematsu translated, the words “Shekinah Glory” and “Daath” appear on the screen between the scenes.
The last time we saw Shin Megami Tensei was back in 2013 when Shin Megami Tensei IV was released for Nintendo 3DS. While many franchises start turning their backs on the 3DS/2DS handheld consoles, Nintendo Switch is gaining a steady growing list of upcoming video game titles.
Apart from Shin Megami Tensei V, there are also more cool titles coming to the Nintendo Switch. Bethesda has announced both DOOM and Elder Scrolls Skyrim coming to the console, as well as Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus when it releases. Super Mario Odyssey is also releasing in a few days and will probably be the most anticipated Mario game in a long time.
There’s still no information or release date for Shin Megami Tensei V but Atlus will be announcing more in the near future.
