The New York Yankees, one of the most iconic organizations in the world of traditional sports, is finally ready to expand its portfolio with esports.
Posting on Twitter earlier today, the Major League Baseball (MLB) team confirmed (via Dot Esports) its investment partnership with Vision Esports to help “create and manage an ecosystem” of esports properties.

Vision Esports is the “largest shareholder” of three esports-related companies. This includes Echo Fox, a professional esports organization; Twin Galaxies, a “League Operator” that is also involved with the H1Z1 Pro League; and Vision Entertainment, an esports content producer.
The New York Yankees and Vision Esports will work together to help accelerate growth and increase the global brand awareness of all three aforementioned companies.
“The New York Yankees are thrilled to partner with Vision Esports and its diverse portfolio of esports companies,” said Hal Steinbrenner, managing general partner and co-chairperson of the New York Yankees. “Guided by an impressively skilled and sports-savvy leadership team, Vision Esports is transcending the industry with a bold, innovative approach to their business, and we are excited to enter into this dynamic arena as their partner.”
The partnership comes only a day after Echo Fox was reported to have been approved by Riot Games for the newly franchised North American League Championship Series (NA LCS) next year.
2017 has so far proven to be a great year for the esports organization. Besides League of Legends, Echo Fox also picked up some of the best players from the fighting game community in one giant swoop at the start of the year. It now has a legendary representation in Street Fighter V, Injustice 2, and Super Smash Bros.
