It has been more than two months since Ornn was released for League of Legends as another inclusion in the ever-expanding roster of playable champions. The intimidating blacksmith demi-god is probably the last to arrive for the current season, but that does not mean Riot Games cannot start giving away hints on what is coming next.
Posting on the official website, Riot Games teased that the next champion will be a burst mage with unique abilities never seen before in the free-to-play game. In addition, the champion will be equipped with all the necessary tools to approach skirmishes from “interesting angles.”
“Hold onto your summoner spells and don’t fall asleep, because change is coming… cataclysmic change,” Riot Games teased.
Furthermore, the developer noted that it has lately been following dark and serious themes for recent champions. The next champion will go against that design element with a whimsical and lighthearted personality. Players should expected “sparkles” and a “bubbly” aura when the time comes.
It appears that we are getting another Yordle or at least someone like Lulu from the enchanted forests of the Glade. If luck decides, the community will find someway to use that new champion in the bottom–support–lane as well. After all, Lulu was initially seen as a support champion in League of Legends but was later transitioned into the mid lane because of her immense burst potential.
There is no word on when the new champion will be released for the game. Riot Games is likely to follow through the upcoming pre-season with teasers in the holidays, and the impending release early next year.
