Following Visceral Games’ Closure God Of War Director Defends Linear Games
Following the closure of Visceral Games by EA there has been a debate among the gaming community and the game developing studios have also chimed in on the subject. With God Of War developer Sony Santa Monica reaching out to the developers that lost their jobs, the studio has now come forward to defend linear Games.
God Of War game director, Cory Barlog, took to Twitter to defend Linear games saying that he loves linear games and it saddens him that linear games are being considered as a bad thing by game publishers like EA. “I love linear single player games. Saddens me when the word linear is considered a bad thing. You can have agency in a linear story game.”
It’s not like Open-world titles are bad but, Linear games have their own place in the game industry and are just as important as open-world titles and the most recent example of this is Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
In related news, the upcoming Sony Santa Monica title is shaping up nicely but, since its reveal, many fans are disappointed over replacing the original voice actor for Kratos and now Sony Santa Monica has revealed why they replaced original voice actor for God Of War.
According to the report, the original God Of War voice actor, Terrence C. Carson, for Kratos in previous titles was replaced because of his height.
Also, Sony has revealed that the upcoming God Of War will be the most brutal God of War ever. According to Vice President of Marketing, Asad Qizilbasz, the combat is very different from previous iterations and it is no longer one versus many.
God Of War is an upcoming action-adventure game in development at Sony Santa Monica Studio and will launch sometime in 2018 exclusively for PlayStation 4.
