iPhone X Plus Hinted As Apple Looks For Screen Supplier

Take it with a grain of salt but there’s going to be an iPhone X Plus coming next year and the works have started already. Idropnews posted some speculations a Korean source that Apple is searching for a screen supplier for its iPhone X series and planning to release X models with 5.8 – 6.4 inch OLED screens next year.

Apple’s development work with Samsung Display and other third-party manufacturers on OLED has begun earlier than usual. Since for a new phone like iPhone X Plus, there are going to be development factors involved such as funding, production planning and scheduling.

The 6 inch plus size will give it a phablet kind of a look and assuming it will compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8. Note series is Samsung’s top tier phones with maximum hardware specifications. iPhone has kept its screen size mostly under 6 inches because of a popular smartphone user-friendliness. Most of the users are fond of phones with handy grips and compact sizes.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 uses a 6.3 SuperAMOLED screen that gives a cinematic viewing experience with multitasking space. The screenshots depict that iPhone X Plus will feature the same bezel-less design in a larger footprint, although I would greatly appreciate the top border to be covered by the screen as well. Just wishful thinking though.

There were reports of Apple planning to launch iPhones with larger screens in 2018 specifically for 5.2 – 6 inches. But they rejected the plans due to the increasing demand for larger phones. Comparatively, these two were smaller. Also, check out our Intel Coffee Lake PC build that costs less than the iPhone X.

Given that we’re still a year away from any sort of iPhone X Plus announcement, this should all be taken with a massive grain of salt. It is interesting, however, to imagine what a 6.4-inch iPhone with the iPhone X design could look like.
