Here’s How You Can Reduce Middle Earth Shadow of War File Size on PC

If you haven’t heard, Middle Earth Shadow of War file size on PC is gigantic. PC users would require close to 100GB of space in order to download Shadow of War. It is one of the biggest PC games in terms of file size. One can only wonder where the file size will go after post-release updates.

Thankfully, there is a way to bring down Middle Earth Shadow of War file size. But first, lets take a look at the specs to see if you can even run the game on PC.

  • OS: Windows 7 SP1 with Platform Update for Windows 7
  • Processor: Intel i5-2550K, 3.4 GHz
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GeForce GTX 670 | Radeon HD 7950
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 60 GB available space

  • OS: Windows 10 version 14393.102 or higher required
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-3770, 3.4 GHz
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GeForce GTX 970 or GeForce GTX 1060 | Radeon R9 290X or Radeon RX 480
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 60 GB available space

The first thing you need to do is press install from your Steam Library. The install window will open up and once you start to download the game will allocate space and start downloading itself. While the game is downloading you need to head to the menu for your games library and right clock on Shadow of War. Head to properties and click on the DLC tab.

You will see some options ticked and from those options, you need to uncheck “4K Cinematic Pack” and “High-Resolution Texture Pack” in order to bring down the size to 65GB. Needless to say that it would impact the graphics quality for high-end PCs but if you are running the game on a low-end or mid-range PC, you do not need this extra burden.

If you wish to download them in the future, you can just go back and re-check these two options and Steam would start to download them.
