Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will be a free update for current owners

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition was officially confirmed this week for a launch on PlayStation 4 and PC in January. It does not only introduce new game modes, which includes the long-awaited arcade mode, but also a secondary V-Trigger for every character on the roster. There are also several other offerings on the table as well.

To quell worried minds, take note that the current owners of the game will not have to purchase Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition or spend any amount to receive the new upgrades. Everything will become available on the release date in the form of a free update for the masses.

“All new modes and gameplay features will be available as free updates for exiting Street Fighter V owners,” the fine line states in the reveal trailer.

The only element that the free update will not include are the downloadable post-release characters for the first and second seasons. These will be bundled with Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition for those who currently do not own original base edition of the game.

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is scheduled for a launch on January 16 for PlayStation 4 and PC at the cost of $39.99. It will be available in both physical and digital forms on the console, but only digitally on PC.

Capcom will be attending New York Comic-Con 2017 this week. The developer has promised announcements for both Street Fighter V and Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite regarding upcoming content. There is a strong likelihood that the developer will be revealing the last playable character to conclude the second season.
